Dolph Lundgren's New Movie Was Rocked by An Explosion

Dolph Lundgren's new movie was rocked by an explosion which injured several workers on set on Tuesday, December 21, according to a U.S. report. The Swedish tough guy is currently working on upcoming action picture "In the Name of the King 2" in British Columbia, Canada and shooting has been taking place in the Golden Ears Provincial Park.

But the set was hit by a blast on Tuesday when a propane heater blew up, according to ETOnline.com. The website reports many workers were caught up in the explosion and victims suffered varying degrees of burns. None of the injuries are thought to be life threatening.

It is not known if Lundgren was on set at the time of the incident and police are continuing to investigate the cause of the blast.

New "Superman" movie which will be directed by Zack Snyder continues shaping up with possible start date and shooting location. The Globe and Mail says the film will be shot in Vancouver, Canada and the production will likely begin in 2011 summer, which is in line with previous report mentioning the movie would start shooting in June next year.

"[Zack Snyder's] next feature's coming here," Peter Leitch, chair of the Motion Picture Production Industry Association of BC and president of North Shore Studios and Mammoth Studios, says as quoted by the site. While Leitch won't name "The Man of Steel" as the project he means, a source confirms that the next "Superman" movie will be filmed in Vancouver.

Warner Bros. Pictures is reportedly eying December 2012 release for "The Man of Steel". Several names have been thrown as possible depicter of Clark Kent aka Superman, but the studio has not announced the official cast yet. Christopher Nolan is producing while David S. Goyer and Jonathan Nolan are writing the script.

Soon after the last round of "American Idol" auditions was wrapped up in Las Vegas, FOX releases the first promo poster. Featuring the judges and the host, the poster reminds fans that the show is moved to new night combo, Wednesday and Thursday starting January 19 at 8/7c.

In the meantime, new progress on the search for "the one" has been reported. Around 60 contestants made it to the Sin City on Tuesday, December 14 and only 40 were set to return to Los Angeles. The Las Vegas round is the continuation of Hollywood Week where contestants from seven cities audition were wilted down.

The episode was filmed at the LOVE theater, aka The Beatles tribute hall at the Mirage hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Contestants were told to sing Beatles' songs on stage with a live band. "You really get to see who are the performers and who is not going to be the performers," Jennifer Lopez said in a news conference Tuesday.

But "it's proving very difficult to chop it down. We're in that place where everybody's so good, it's like, 'Who do we send home?' It gets harder every day," Lopez admitted. She also said that the young ones are the ones who actually thrive. The show has lowered the age limit from 16 to 15.

"The 15- and 16-year-olds really have been some of the biggest surprises to us and the ones who have really blew us away," she said. Randy Jackson chimed in, "We never thought dropping the age one year, to 15 this year, would've made that big a difference. But it's crazy."

Jackson then gushed, "This is the best talent we've ever had." Yet the judges are not passing the contestants easily. "We've [all] been very hard. If they can't sing, Randy will say, 'Who told you you can sing?' And I will ask them if they ate paint chips as a kid," Steven Tyler said.

As promised, the fifth season finale of "Dexter" is nothing but "therapeutic". Blood was still spilled but it's not coming from someone loved by the audience. It all started with Dexter's frantic search for Lumen who had been captured by Jordan. But true to the show's nature, Dexter was blocked midway by his family who wants to celebrate Harrison's birthday in his house.

Again, Dexter is forced to let down some people, making his job as an excuse. Dexter and Jordan had a little mind game through a phone call. And back at the station everyone was lured to the crime scene of Liddy's murder. LaGuerta found out that the last call that Liddy made was for Quinn and she noticed the blood on his shoe. Quinn was made the prime suspect and he demanded lawyer.

Dexter managed to break away from the crowd, stealing a red car to find the place where Jordan kept Lumen. The psychopath was torturing Lumen but she appeared to be much stronger than the first kidnapping. Dexter found the place but crashed his car and woke up to find that he's been tied inside the summer camp house.

Dexter got himself free, stabbing Jordan in the foot and laid him on the table. He let Lumen finish Jordan and she took the chance pretty aggressively. Before the job was done, Deb came to the scene after a tip from the fruit vendor. She told Dexter and Lumen to freeze but actually did not see who they were behind the translucent plastic.

Deb had an understanding that these two people are vigilantes who have wiped clean people like Jordan, so she let them go before calling in the station to inform the murder. Dexter and Lumen quickly finished their job and returned to their respective places. Cut to Quinn who was given the benefit of the doubt by Deb. Seeing how much Quinn made Deb happy, Dex botched the blood work that freed Quinn from the charges.

Dexter had a happy scene at Harrison's birthday party and that is after Lumen told him that she's done with her Dark Passenger. She was leaving the town to start new.

Executive producer Sara Colleton explained the final decision to let Lumen live. "From the very beginning we knew that Lumen would leave Dexter," she said. "...Their respective traumas have created this bond. So it's devastating for Dexter to lose her, and he has never wanted anything before like this. But at the same time there's something so incredibly direct about Lumen that when she tells him why she has to leave, it makes perfect sense to him. He understands that her dark passenger has left, that her need for vengeance has been quenched, and that he can never escape this, this is who he is, and he needs to let her go. As he said, 'I will carry your darkness with mine'."

Colleton also confirmed that the possibility of Julia Stiles reprising her role is open wide. Speaking of the next season she said, "Deb will learn Spanish, I think Harrison will be seeing his second birthday, and Dexter will still be enjoying the Slice of Life." Paltrow herself seemed to enjoy the stint for she told Access Hollywood on Sunday, December 12 that being on "Glee" was "the best job ever".

Meanwhile, "Glee" is preparing for the episode that will air after Super Bowl on February 6. The filming was scheduled to take place over the weekend but it was temporarily shut down when a number of crew including star Dianna Agron had tonsillitis. Filming is expected to resume on Monday, December 13.

"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is a new champion at North American Box Office with an unimpressive opening cume. This third installment of fantasy film franchise rakes in an estimated $24.5 million, which is far below some analysts' expectations, despite the pricey 3-D tickets.

The not so strong debut of "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" continues the industry's largely-futile search for a lucrative fantasy franchise not based on "Harry Potter" or "Lord of the Rings". The haul also marks the lowest opening for the franchise after "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" opened to $65.6 million in 2005 and "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" bowed to $55 million in 2008.

Still, Fox senior vp distribution Chris Aronson sees this positively, saying as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter "On the domestic side, our best days are still ahead of us with the school holidays and Christmas yet to come." He adds that exit surveys showed patrons enjoyed "Voyage of the Dawn Treader". As for the prospect of another "Narnia" installment, he says, "It's too early to say."

Another slow start is shown by "The Tourist" that actually gets a boost from Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie's collaboration as lead stars. The action thriller debuts on number two at domestic box office with an approximately $17 million. Sony distribution boss Rory Bruer believes the movie will perform well, stating "The pictures is going to work out fine, because this is a world play."

"Tangled" drops two spots from the peak to number three with an additional $14.6 million on its third weekend. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I" follows on number four with an estimated $8.5 million, bringing the domestic gross to a total of $257.7 million so far. "Unstoppable" rounds up the top five with an estimated $3.8 million.

Michael Gambon Jumps from Big to Small Screen

Michael Gambon jumps from big to small screen and he's making his first U.S. television debut at the same time. The Brit is to take a recurring role on HBO drama series "Luck" which is about several characters who are tied to the same horse-racing track.

Produced under David Milch/Michael Mann collaboration, "Luck" puts Dustin Hoffman in the lead role named Ace Brenstein. Now Gambon is to play a yet-to-be-named character who is "a nemesis or worthy adversary for" Brenstein. Gambon previously worked with Mann in Oscar nominated film "The Insider".

Joining Gambon as recurring character is Patrick J. Adams ("Friday Night Lights", "Pretty Little Liars"). The 29-year-old is set to be Nathan Israel who works closely with Bernstein, Deadline said. Joan Allen had also been selected to take a supporting role.

Gambon expanded his fame Stateside when starring as Professor Dumbledore in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", replacing Richard Harris who died in 2002. He is the depicter of King George V in the upcoming Oscar hopeful "The King's Speech".

'True Blood' Is Shaping Up with Three New Additions

The fourth season's casting of "True Blood" is shaping up with three new additions. To play recurring characters on the HBO show when it returns next year are Christina Moore, Neil Hopkins and Chris Butler who are the alumni of "That '70s Show", "Lost" and "The Good Wife" respectively.

Moore, according to Deadline, is playing Suzanne McKittrick, "a WASPy Texas housewife who possesses certain special abilities." When reporting the casting call, EW also noted that Suzanne will throw a hootenanny to bond with 'her kind'. The actress is still attached to "Hawthorne" but she would shoot her part during the TNT series' break which is before spring.

Meanwhile, Hopkins is to take the role of Claudine's mysterious twin brother named Claude. In the book, Claude is a distant cousin to Sookie's father and is described absolutely breathtaking for women. However his interest is for men and he works as a stripper at a club in Monroe called Hooligans.

Butler is cast as Emory, "a prissy and conservative shapeshifter with his own agenda." Little is known about this character.

The show has found actors for several of its major characters in season 4 but is yet to announce who will be an Asian-American cage fighter and Queen Mab.

Ub Iwerks Award will go to Autodesk for the development of digital entertainment creation tools that play an essential role in animated productions, films, video games and commercials worldwide; and Special Achievement Annie Award will be accepted to "Waking Sleeping Beauty" for the documentary about the turbulent and fruitful years of Disney Animation.
